Mr. President....YOU'RE FIRED!
We live in the backwards world of Obama-land.
Another Hero Falls on His Sword
I was hoping to not have to write about this event…the firing of yet another American General Officer, in this instance, it’s Four Star General Stanley McChrystal.
June 23, 2010 is a sad day in America…another one…they seem to come with ever increasing frequency in this backwards world that we call Obama-land. It’s time we fire his shameless and shameful rear end. Wait a minute…I’m getting ahead of myself.
Before I unleash a righteous fusillade of bile against out first executive, it should be noted that General McChrystal screwed up. In the rare air breathed by General officers it is expected that diplomacy skills are in place. Attaining the rank of General is a political process, so being a skilled political operative, McChrystal should have played smarter in that arena.
However….McChrystals boss, our president, our first executive, our most exalted grand poobah…is unworthy of standing in McChrystals shadow. President Obama has not paid his dues wearing a military uniform, yet he has the power to end the career of a man who has faced more danger in one day than Obama will experience during his entire hollow life. How upside down is that?
There is a crazy trend in play in the United States…we elect first executives who have never worn a military uniform…and that is a huge mistake because we are a military culture…fighting wars is what we do. Think not? Take a look at America’s time line…war after, after war, after war. America is as warrior like as any nation or people in human history. And our Presidents routinely send American men and women to far off lands to kill people that we have designated as bad guys. Sometimes we’re right, sometimes we’re wrong…but again…it is what we do. It’s in our DNA.
Regardless of the political reasons behind committing our military to ply their trade…we laud young soldiers, sailors, Marines, and Air Force personnel…and yes, our fabulous Coast Guard. We thank them endlessly for their service, we give them standing ovations, huge welcome home parties, and we proudly call them patriots...rightly so. We appropriately hold no one else in our society in higher esteem than those who serve in the military, yet we foolishly, if not mindlessly elect as our sword point leaders, men and women who hold our military in contempt…How inside out is that? How suicidal is that?
Will we change our ways? Can we rediscover our wits and elect genuine leaders instead of thin skinned political narcissists? Time will tell...and as it stands, for a multitude of reasons, the clock is ticking towards a very dubious American future.
So shame on Obama for being…yes, simply for being…and shame on McChrystal for making himself vulnerable to the whim of a man who is unworthy of shining the boots of the lowliest private yet alone decide the fate of a Four Star General.
